“Systemic” — a short story in GLUE issue #2
I wrote the short story “Systemic” as a response to my ten fellow contributors’ inspiring pieces across a variety of mediums—fiction and non-fiction prose, poems, illustrations, photography and more! True to the issue’s theme of Systems, I tied everyone’s contributions together into a flowing whole, using their ideas, imagery and even borrowing some great phrases!

Series in The Diamond Dimensions Universe
Between the ages of twelve and eighteen, I released twenty-two individual volumes in an interconnected multiverse. This Diamond Dimensions Universe began as an authorised novelisation of DanTDM’s Minecraft series, released 2013–17. It expanded to include characters and locations from his other worlds, as well as my own interests and inspirations.

The Diamond Dimensions
Dan, a scientist’s assistant, is trapped in a world so much more magical than his own. As he discovers new friends, foes and worlds, his odyssey home builds towards multiverse-shattering events and an interdimensional conflict.
It is comprised of eight numbered volumes, two collections of short stories and Origins and Misadventures titles which take place respectively before and after the main series.
The Cave
When three children discover colourful portals in an ice cave, they enter pocket dimensions outside of the usual multiversal order.
It’s set hundreds of years before the other series, but has important links to both. It was also cowritten by my father, Peter Hamer. Together we also released a standalone book in the main ‘present’ timeline, Rift Chronicles: Timelight.
The Watchers
The Watchers runs parallel to the second half of Dan’s adventures, following new recruits to an interdimensional organisation of observers. Leaning into Ancient Egyptian history and mythology, it expands and unifies the whole multiverse, moving beyond the end of Dan’s main adventures.
Since the chapter volumes of this series were so short, I collected them in three Parts too, with bonus short stories filling in gaps in characters’ timelines.
Omnibus Editions
In 2021, I released four omnibus volumes, collecting every novel and short story. Some books were reworked and each volume is edited together in chronological order. The improvements in my writing aged eighteen compared to twelve make for a better reading experience and continuity, though there’s probably more that I’d change now!
Volume One
Includes all the prequel stories to the main timeline of events.

Volume Two
Contains the main chunk of Dan’s time in The Diamond Dimensions as he tries to survive and get back to The Lab.

Volume Three
Explores the repercussions of Dan’s actions for the whole universe of interconnected dimensions.

Volume Four
Documents the events surrounding the End Battle of 2013 up until the end of the prophesied time of change in 2017.

- The novelisation and completion of DanTDM’s Misadventures story

Tales from the Void: Anniversary Edition
I re-released the only out of print Diamond Dimensions volume in 2024 to celebrate ten years of meeting DanTDM and beginning my publishing journey. The Diamond Dimensions: Volume 4.5: Tales from the Void: Anniversary Edition contains revamped versions of the original eleven short stories and features content cut from the omnibus volumes, two reading order timelines for the whole universe, an exclusive behind the scenes piece of fiction and an essay on a decade of writing about Dan.
